The route at a glance
From Kuala Lumpur you head south on the North-South Expressway, then switch to the Seremban–Port Dickson Highway towards the coast. The trip is about 90–100 km and normally takes about 1–1.5 hours. It is almost all expressway with no mountain roads, which is good news if you tend to get carsick.
Port Dickson's beaches and resorts are spread along a long stretch of coastline running south from the town. "Port Dickson" is really a whole strip of coast, so the drive time varies a little depending on which hotel or beach you are going to. Just send the driver your hotel name when you book.

For two or three people with light bags who plan to stay put at one resort, e-hailing is very convenient. For families with a pile of beach gear, or if you want to stop a few times on the way, a private car is less hassle.
How a private car trip works
Stops on the way
- Seremban: the capital of Negeri Sembilan, right on the way to Port Dickson. A good lunch stop — the town is well known for its baked pork buns (siew pau).
- Tanjung Tuan: at the southern end of Port Dickson, with a forest trail and a lighthouse. Worth half a day if you enjoy a walk.

A typical day trip
Port Dickson is one of the day trips we offer. A common plan: leave Kuala Lumpur in the morning, have lunch in Seremban, spend the afternoon on the beach, stay for the sunset and head back to the city. A day trip is normally booked as a full-day charter (about 8–10 hours), with extra hours if you run over — see our private car charter page.
Choosing a vehicle
Beach trips come with swim rings, sand toys and changes of clothes, so there is usually more to carry than you expect. Two or three people fit an economy sedan. A family of four or five is more comfortable in a standard MPV or the Toyota Alphard; six or seven people fit a Hyundai Staria, and company outings or big families of 8–12 can take a Toyota Hiace van.

Timing and practical tips
- Beat the weekend traffic: on weekends and public holidays, the road towards Port Dickson is busy in the morning and the return can jam in the late afternoon and evening. Leave early or go on a weekday.
- Sun and rain: the sun is strong on the coast, so stay in the shade around midday and bring sunscreen and a hat. Afternoon showers are common in the tropics, so keep the plan flexible.
- Water safety: read the safety signs on site before swimming, keep an eye on children and do not swim far out in unfamiliar water.
